SONG OF PASSION had won in nice style at Chester, and a 3lb rise proved nowhere near enough to stop her following up. She was the early leader until River Kintyre went on, and having gone back in front around three furlongs out she came right away. This was her third successive win from only four starts and connections now have one eye on a Listed seven-furlong race for fillies at Warwick.
Mister Benedictine was back in trip after trying a mile and two furlongs, and he was 6lb lower than at the start of the season. Hecame right back to form and just got the better of a good battle with Northern challenger King Of The Moors for second.
Spirit Of Arosa, second behind the fast-improving Red Evie at Newbury, got going too late, and it was only in the last stride that he collared Scarlet Flyer for fourth.
Jeanmaire failed to improve for the step up to seven furlongs, while Tara Too made her effort on the outside but was never a threat, a commentwhich also applies to Carmanero, who raced closer to the rail, and Dame Hester, who raced on the inside rail but didn't come down the hill well.
The unexposed Thirsk winner Royal Envoy was one of several who was keen under restraint at theback of the field and never looked like picking up. [GD]
