Home Affairs looked very unlucky, but the manner in which he flashed home when switched outside rather detracted from the cool waiting ride Frankie Dettori gave Nayyir, who has become hard to win with at this sort of level and needs delivering as late as possible, and who was held up confidently atthe back of the field until staging a strong run between horses to lead well inside the final furlong. Nayyir is not entered at Royal Ascot and will go instead to Goodwood for the Lennox Stakes, which he has won twice.
Boule d'Or is another hard-to-win-with hold-up horse, and he too was delivered with a well-timed run from the back of the field, heading Momtic inside the final furlong and momentarily looking the winner. This was his second Group placing of the week and handicaps are now out for him, so he is likely to go abroad in search of a win at this level.
long.
Momtic was returning to the scene of one of last year's good handicap wins and he was reunited with Kieren Fallon. In this better company he struggledto get to the front, and when he did get there he immediately looked vulnerable to pacier horses coming from further back.
Zero Tolerance is a very capable handicapper when there is give in the ground, and he ran as well as he was entitled to on this drying surface.
Kings Point was understandably swamped after taking them along. Chrysander, visored for the first time, looked a bit out of his depth and wasn't disgraced.[GD]
